July 14 - 28 2025 Cove Park Residency
Our interests bridge natural and esoteric worlds. This summer, we will scan Scottish stone circles in situ, which encompasses the integration of environments. Later, we will import the scans into our virtual work.

Cove Park residency is a perfect hub/home base to do our research and creation work.
An amorphous structure has no organization (not a crystalline structure), and the atomic structure resembles that of a liquid.” - Bora Bodur, Ora4art collaborator. My psychogeographies, poetics as liminal VR experiences, are fluid experiences, amorphous formations that need a wider audience. They have emotional consequence, which benefits the participant, viewer. I intend to find ways to cross the Open Brush creation boundary into the multiplayer experiences of game engines. This crossover is irregular. The creation of VR as psychogeography poetics in irregular spaces will be the research, processing, and creation devices of Amorphing Irregulariities.

"The alluring realm of virtual reality has long captured the imagination of designers and researchers, who strive to create immersive experiences that evoke deep emotional responses from users. One intriguing aspect of this pursuit is the exploration of amorphous structures, which, by their very nature, lack the rigid organization of crystalline forms and mimic the fluidity of liquid states." (Şemsioğlu et al., 2021)

Amorphous structures seen in my VR with their inherent irregularities and lack of defined patterns can profoundly influence the emotional response of individuals interacting with virtual environments. Amorphous ideology and its subsequent use devise irregular uses of inputs to create a fluidity of emotional states. This is where the art lies. All the digital media aside, it is art that needs to be the outcome. Making this work translate into new states of being will enable a wider audience to experience these liminal psychogeographies, these VR poetics.

My recent (2023-2024) research-creation project, Degrees of Once, and before that, VRForward work, as a Digital Now grant participant, I employed the use of 3D scanning, imports of digital objects into VR, microscopic imagery imports to devise psychogeograpies, fluid emotional states; amorphous experiences. I devised liminal spaces with interactive sound creations through integrated light drawing/painting within the Open Brush software. This work is limited to dissemination via video, because the VR software does not enable multiple players to experience the creations.

Tesearch / creation within a gaming software is the next step in an overall umbrella - Degrees of Presence. This work is not game development. It is an art project, to research and create, explore ideas through available media development within the context of Unity and / or Unreal Engine, depending on the viability (a research goal), and experimentation with newer AI options.

My work will be independent, yet includes collaboration. Collaboration with consultants will be ongoing through the year, and occur intermittently, according to their availability, and expertise.

Phase 1 of Tears will be presented at the Centre for Expanded Poetics on the 22nd of February 2019. This project was awarded a FASA (Fine Art Student Alliance) Special Project grant (2018). Special thanks to the Technology Sandbox team, CDA and IMCA departments at Concordia University. A history / preliminary research for this project will also be presented (Dagaz).
Tears – Phase 1 Tears was initially created as a series of 3d prints from microscopic imagery of tears (10, to date) cried for different reasons. Images found on the Smithsonian website were configured in 3 different software by Debora Alanna and were 3d printed.
